Work detailsThe Night Before Christmas by Jan Brett
None. A story I've read hundreds of times before but always good to read at Christmas time. ( )I love Jan Brett's art. I think that using books that go with the holidays throughout the school year are very important. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the curriculum that we forget to give the children some fun time. After reading this book, I would let the students write Santa a letter. I would use this book the week before Christmas. Children love books like these. The illustrations and wording are great! I would use this book to explain to children why it is important to be on their best behavior. This book is for all ages. It is a timeless tale about Christmas eve and the events that occur that night. It is great for students to think about what they do on Christmas and share holiday events and traditions that they have in their families. Use this book with many grades to encourage phonemic awareness skills, build vocabulary, create recognition of tempo within literature, and the ability of poetry to tell a story. Younger students may write a personal "Night Before Christmas" tale, detailing their own family's traditions. Older students may prefer to emulate the style and format of this classic poem, and create a work based on a character of their choosing. This book is about a man's encounter with Saint Nicholas on Christmas Eve. Addresses the issue of faith/belief. Use this book in the classroom to build phonemic awareness skills and vocabulary, create recognition of tempo in writing, show that poetry can tell a story. no reviews | add a review Is contained in
