It starts with the birth of the male colt Thowra whose coat is so pale he looks white or silver. He's destined for great things as the head stallion of his herd. Humans are not the protagonists, but the enemies because they regularly hunt the horses to catch and tame them for their own use. You are introduced oodles of down under lingo and learn all about the wildlife of Australia. I loved this book and series as a young girl, and highly recommend it for girls 8 to 15 years old. ( )One of my favorite books of all time. As far as girly horse books go, this is definitely one of them. However, the horses are the characters, in the Watership Down tradition. Like Kimba, the good white, well, silver in the case horse is a manly horse, and he leads his herd around and defends them from the horse supervillain, etc. http://notfreesf.blogspot.com/2007/02... no reviews | add a review
