I used Dailylit to read The Murders in Rue Morgue in work, and am now subscribing to A Study in Scarlet :> ... down numerous pegs. Overall I didn't throw the book anywhere but I won't be buying my own copy any time soon.

The First Sherlock Holmes novella. I can see myself really enjoying all of these books even if Holmes is a pompous know-it-all. ... Finished A Study in Scarlet the other day but due to internet failures I haven't been able to get online for a day or so.
I may have started to read The Sign of Four but i honestly can't remember at the moment but either way I will be starting it soonish. Read a bit more of A Study in Scarlet today as it's my current "handbag book" being tiny like it is it fits nicely into my bag.
I think i finished Fade last night (i'm so tired right now i don't even know) i quite like the two books so far in this series although the writing style is somewhat ... I've just read a wonderful crossover fanfic (Harry Potter/Sherlock Holmes) and it has inspired me to start reading Conan Doyle's books. ... personal and dangerous case that threatens their very lives.

I'll be continuing on with Sherlock Holmes in A Study in Scarlet and The Hound of the Baskervilles already on the TBR pile. ... I, Claudius and just now flipping through The Truth About the Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Enchanted Castle, and A Study in Scarlet. OH. And How to Read and Why by Harold Bloom, which is turning out to be rather good, if not a bit overpowering. It's true. You might try A Study in Scarlet, it's the first one, when Watson and Holmes first meet, and I really liked it. It's a slightly different style than the rest of the books, divided into two parts, the first of which is the investigation and the second of which you experience the ... Welcome SupaMaori! The Small Back Room by Nigel Balchin My latest find is a 1920s flyer advertising an series of Sherlock Holmes reprints - I`ve entered the details in the `Things Found in Books` group, so this is just by way of a cross-reference.
One thing I notice as a buyer and seller of old books is the number of people who sell or give away ... Probably my top find so far - a publisher`s flyer with an advertisement for a series of Sherlock Holmes reprints, complete with illustration of the great sleuth. Tthe illus is probably more Eric Parker than Sidne Paget, but none the worse for that.
