While there is a clear ending to the book, its not a clear ending to the story at all, and is certain to be continued in latter books. Drizzt and his friends face incredible odds, as usual, though this time, they think he's dead, and several of the companions are badly injured, or near death. Can they actually get rid of the orc horde at the gates, and the giant orc that leads them? This book felt like Salvatore writing because that’s his job and not because he had a story to tell. Drizzt goes from devastated loner to lover by the end, but that’s about the only change that is effected in this book. There are two showdowns between Drizzt and Obould, neither conclusive. And while it was my old friends, the focus was split so widely that I didn’t get as much from the Companions as I normally do. This story arc seems somewhat unresolved. Unlike Salvatore's other trilogies this one does not neatly wrap up. The main villain is not truly vanquished and the greater threat to Clan Battlehammer remains. I hope that Salvatore will bring some resolution (which he fortunately foreshadows) in future stories. Aside from these things, the book provides all of the exitement we have come to expect from Salvatore. no reviews | add a review

Another great book from Salvatore. The legend and storyline of Drizzt Do'urden and his friends continues to grow and become more indepth. Can not wait to read the next one. (
