Daniel and Will are waiting. The boys have enough food for up to six weeks. Pa left to gather the rest of the family, hopefully to return in five weeks, surely no more than six. Each day, every noise they hear is their parents. The boys hear everything at night too. The wilderness is a scary place for two young boys.

While waiting on their parents to return, Daniel and Will learn how to survive and face danger with creativity and courage.

Will Ma and Pa return before winter?

This story reminds me a lot of Hatchet. The boys in the story learn a lot about themselves while also learning a new way of life in the wilderness. ( )
