Loading... He Shall Thunder in the Skyby Elizabeth PetersSeries: Amelia Peabody - Pub (12), Amelia Peabody - Chron (13)
This was number 12 in the series, and I am still very much interested. The characters are wonderful and the story always comes together. I always enjoy a happy ending! ( )Ramses is involved not only in a police investigation, but an impersonation of a notorious political radical, doing his best to help the situation in the war effort. That naughty master criminal kisses Amelia after much holding back. Amelia also finally gets a clue about Ramses and Nefret. The end brings several big surprises and a very satisfying conclusion. The action in the last few chapters will have you on the edge of your seat, but the rest of the book is a bit plodding. Amelia Peabody #12 I would place this on the level of the "Cat Who" books, but nowhere near Sayers, Stout, Ellis Peters or Laurie King. However, it is a very readable book, just above twaddle level because of the Egyptology included. I wouldn't mind reading more now and then, but I won't keep them on my shelves. Closely paired with Lord of the Silent. These volumes of the Peabody series cover World War I. Lots of dangling plot lines from previous novels come together (satisfyingly) in this one. I LOVE THIS BOOK!! IT IS THE BEST IN THE ENTIRE SERIES....I COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! |
