It had a few stories in it that I would not have read otherwise, and a few that I was already familiar with. The stories are not horribly long, so it's relatively easy to breeze through them. ( )The Best American Series is addictive. I particularity enjoy the Best American Short Stories and the Best American Poetry books. The 2006 volume of The Best American Short Stories is an enjoyable read. The best work in the collection is ‘The View from Castle Rock’ by Alice Munro, which is no surprise. As the wife of a former Marine, I found ‘Refresh, Refresh’ by Benjamin Percy to be the most moving story in the collection. This tome includes stories with varied voices and subject matter, which is exactly what I was looking for. Now I am looking forward to The Best American Short Stories 2007. So many stories, so little time. Favorite Stories, i.e., stories I might read again (listed in order of preference) - "Tattooizm" by Kevin Moffett; "The View from Castle Rock" by Alice Munro no reviews | add a review
