See, I was in third grade when the movie Jurassic Park came out, and I adored it. Dinosaurs and Jeff Goldblum! (Ok, I might have been a weird nine year old. Scratch that: I know I was a weird nine year old, but I don't know if that has anything to do with liking Jeff Goldblum) I read ... The first adult SF book I read was Jurassic Park when I was ten or so, right around when the movie came out. Before that, I'm sure I must have read young adult books which were technically sci-fi, I just can't remember any specifically now (and sadly, I gave away my YA collection some time ago). ... I find that adaptations of Michael Crichton or Stephen King novels fall flat, the exceptions being movies such as Jurassic Park, The Shining, and Carrie.
... down. I was in 8th grade when I read it and I remember walking down the halls between classes reading it. I also enjoyed Jurassic Park and The Lost World is solely responsible for my passing high school Chemistry as I read it instead of studying but there was enough chemistry in it that I ... I like what I've read of Crichton's: Jurassic Park, Lost World, and Timeline. Haven't tried Congo. You're not making me impatient to start it, either, meg. ;) I liked Jurassic Park, but the only other book I started by Crichton I didn't finish. Sadly Jurassic Park scared me to bits, making a dino clone seemed so plausable and who wouldn't be afraid of a creature with very big teeth and super intelligence running amuck? ... Crichton but without the gratuitous 50 pages of denouement after the real climax that has sometimes been a trademark: e.g. "Jurassic Park". That having been said, I think there was a lot of excess baggage in the book - I could have done without the whole transgenic orangutan bit and the ... When I was in highschool, we had to "fact check" Jurassic Park against what we were learning about genetics and evolution-kind of interesting. Of course, then a couple of years latter The Science of Jurassic Park came out and showed me how much I missed. ... that B&N decides to put a sticker on it, I'm hosed if I'd like to take the sticker off.
OH - never EVER repeat the Jurassic Park "special edition" Michael Crichton scam. Using mechanical pens to simulate real autographs and charging a premium for a special edition book is patently ... ... Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star by Brandon Mull

26. Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
27. Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson

Close enough to the book to "do it justice" but with a lot more action. (That's just my opinion, no offense to fans of the book.) I thought the movie and book versions of Jurassic Park each had their strengths. The book is one of Chrichton's best, and manages to be believable science fiction. The movie is almost unrecognizable as being based on the book, however it makes up for it with stunning visuals and fulfilling a ... Jurassic Park Yeah, and apparently velociraptor was a big mad turkey according to a report on CNN. So much for Jurassic Park. 8^} Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

The Shelters of Stone by Jean M. Auel

I enjoyed Chrichton's Jurassic Park so why did he ressurect characters to make Lost World which wasn't anywhere as good.
Douglas Adams's hitchhiker guide was good but by So long and thanks it was very poor. Fortunetly mostly harmless did a very good job of ensuring there could be ... I just finished Of Fire and Night (Saga of Seven Suns 5) and have now started on Jurassic Park. If that turns out ok, I guess The Lost World is the next in line. Otherwise I better see if I can't get a bit further in London: The Biography. ... resurrected Merlin is delicious, even if the science is a little dated.
Speaking of eugenics, try Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park. Ian Malcolm is as fascinating a character as I have ever run across in fiction.
