The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
... had interesting, believable characters. And I can think of lots of YA books -- everything from Nothing But the Truth to The Princess Diaries -- that have political themes.
The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot are engaging reads and filled with humor. None of the main characters have superstar looks but they are realistically portrayed and are perfect for young teen girls. Even my husband laughs at the passages I have read to him.
... Was Sophia her husband’s evil genius? Or was she Tolstoy’s muse and active assistant?
Sophia Tolstoy’s voluminous Diaries were reprinted but this seems to invite only a quick reading. Here is what a reviewer writes in The Sunday Times on November 1, 2009: “Leo Tolstoy slipped out of ...

... first book in a series. I should have mentioned it in my review. Jenny Carroll and Meg Cabot, the author of the Princess Diaries , are one and the same, in case you did not know.
... The Possibilities of Sainthood by Donna Freitas.
And she might try some of Meg Cabot's novels, which are quite fun: The Princess Diaries or All-American Girl.
It might help us make recommendations if we knew what your daughter was interested in, or even what type of books she does ...
I just added a bunch of books to my inventory. There are a few of Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries books, a few Agatha Christie's, and a bunch of inspirational romances that I inherited from my Mom after sge finished with them. Please come check me out!
Oh yeah, everything is 3 for 2 right ...
... the books, so I can't say--but there must be something worth reading in them, if just a really compelling story.
I like The Princess Diaries . The idea of being a princess in the modrn world intrigues me.
Princess Diaries
It's the last (I think) book in the Princess Diaries series, titled Princess Mia. They're cute books! I haven't read them all, but I liked the first few, and Meg Cabot in general.

... me to read The Mediator books for some time, and I kept protesting that I was tired of Meg Cabot after giving up on The Princess Diaries somewhere around book four or five. I'm glad I gave them a try. Suze Simon, the 16-year-old "mediator" who can talk with ghosts, almost slid into Sue-is ...

14) What is the most "lowbrow" book you've read as an adult?
Hrm. Probably The Princess Diaries . I don't care, I really don't; I'll just protest that it's a guilty pleasure until I'm blue in the face.
15) What is the most difficult book you've ...
... all, simply because their story was so fun to read.
This novel is actually the senior project of Mia Thermopolis (from The Princess Diaries series), and so of course there are some aspects of it that are rather cliche: the romance-y terms, the faux-Olde English speech. Additionally, the ...

Mia in the Princess Diaries books by Meg Cabot is a vegetarian, at least until book 8 and 9 where during a bout of depression she decides to eat meat.
The books are enjoyable and funny.
... to finish this year!
Starting off, I've read (or, well, listened to) my first five books towards my fifty:
1. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot - 4/5 - I was kinda surprised at how different the book is from the movie, though I know I shouldn't be. Grandmere is kinda ...

I've read books from the Princess Diaries series!
But I haven't read 1984 (yet. I plan to, eventually).
I have read You Suck but I haven't read any books in the Princess Diaries series.
... lied. I read Fruits Baskets 7-11 over the past week.
I was just commenting to myself the other day "I wish the next Princess Diaries book would come out." Actually, I've made that comment since I finished the last book Princess Mia. I'm emotionaly involved because of that book. This ...
Finished The Heiress today, and I enjoyed it, though not quiet as much as The Princess .
I'm going to aim for one more book before the end of the year, so I'm part way through Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux. If I finish it by tomorrow night, then I will have reached my 2008 goal ...

11) The Queen's Fool - Philippa Gregory
12) The Princess Diaries I - Meg Cabot
I haven't read Airhead, but I'm assuming you've read Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries series? Mia is one of my favorite characters of all time and I highly recommend the series. After reading tons of Cabot's books (including her regular "chick lit" fiction/literature), I've found her writing ...
My favorites:
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle and it's sequels,
The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot,
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak,
I am the Cheese by Robert Cormier,
All of Richard Peck's books,
and
Samurai Shortstop by Alan M. Gratz.
I never want to read again any of these books:
Love among the walnuts and Once upon a marigold by Jean Ferris; The princess diaries ; or The beautiful miscellaneous by Dominic Smith.
I read a review of The beautiful miscellaneous, after I tried and failed to become engaged with the ...
I've been reading things other than romance lately, but I've been listening to The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot on my ipod. I don't read much YA, but I enjoyed a grown-up book by this author and thought I'd try this one. It's pretty cute! Also, it's narrated by Anne Hathaway and she's ...

Just finished Princess by Jean P. Sasson. Not impressed. The writing was clumsy and over-wrought - not to mention the occasional malapropism. And I'm not convinced there is such a person as "Sultana". It reads more like a Western woman's impression of Saudi society, liberally sprinkled with ...
Since it is an all girl group, I second The Princess Diaries . It is a great series. (I'm guessing you're all mature) I might have more suggestions later.
for a group of girls the princess diaries is good.
Thanks for the suggestions, deebee1! I'll surely look into them. In the meantime...
36. The Princess Diaries - Meg Cabot : (reread) This is a fun, quick read. I just noticed that my sister had borrowed it from the library and I read it in a couple days after she'd finished it.
12) The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot 262 pages
Why I chose this book: I loved the movie....never realized it was based upon a novel until I read a couple other of Meg Cabot's books... What I thought: loved the movie...and enjoyed the book even more:)

Well I chose a new book....Whoooo Hoooo, and I already am 100+ pages into it....I chose The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. Hopefully it will be a slow night at work tonight (I have just jinxed myself), and I will be able to finish the book....and maybe just maybe start a new one:0
It's a YA novel but this week I started The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot and it is quite possibly one of the funniest books I've read. Being inside the head of a nerdy high school girl takes me back to my days in high school and I have a feeling that Mia and I would have been friends. Also, I ...

It's a lovely read, a great continuation in the adventures of HRH Mia Thermopolis, that deals really well with ...
Was The Princess Diaries book based off of the movie, or the other way around? Just curious...
Finished The Princess Diaries . It was pretty good for a YA novel. I havn't seen the movie yet so I can't compare it.
Reading Midnight's Children now. Should be interesting!
Finished Outlander. A very dramatic story! Are the rest in the series as good as this one?
Going to start The Princess Diaries next.

Hmm . . . for YA chick lit, it's hard to touch Meg Cabot; The Princess Diaries is obviously the famous one, but equally it is an undertaking due to the sequels. All-American Girl is quite a nice one there, I think. I . . . um . . . oh dear, I read YA all the time, but generally as "fluff", ...

Of course, I was a little too old for it and my sister who loved it doesn't read much outside of Harry Potter, The Princess Diaries , and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants so maybe it's not all that effective. But at least she has an idea of the classics.
... For example, due to my previous UnSuggesting, I know that I have been, and am possibly still, the only person to have both The Princess Diaries and How the mind works in their catalog. But it would be cool to just find "improbable pairs" in my library -- the number-crunching would probably be ...
collsers: I will be starting Princess Diaries soon. I did not mean a criticism of Mediator just an observation.
Well, Mia's mother in the Princess Diaries books is from Versailles, and if I remember correctly Teen Idol and How to be Popular were both set in IN (but, it has been awhile since I read them, so I could be wrong).
... after HP, but I'm sure it was something similiar. Soon afterwards, I got into the "older" books, especially Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries
