Great book - the author is very knowledgeable about hair care and provides great tips. I particularly enjoyed the section for special hair conditioning and restoration treatments. Tea tree oil works great for me! The only reason I marked this as 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have preferred color photos. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This book covers pretty much everything you need to know about healthy hair. It taught me quite a bit, and I actually did the rehab program outlined. My hair is super healthy and soft now, which I love. I've picked up some new good habits, like clarifying my hair once a month and leaving my conditioner on for 10-15 minutes, which my showers nicely meditative. I've learned what texture my hair ACTUALLY is (wavy), how to use hair oils, and how often I should really use a leave-in conditioner or hair mask. In addition, there is a complete list of healthy hair products in the back, which is awesome (and preferable to sprinkling them throughout the book, where product recommendations are both distracting and hard to find again). The photos are also really good-there are a lot, and the girls in them are both gorgeous and have personality.. If you have hair, then I definitely recommend this book. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Hair Care Rehab is a no-nonsense, straightforward and practical manual for anyone wanting to optimize the health and beauty of their hair. The author covers so much information that is really helpful and does it in such a way that the book grabs and keeps your attention throughout. It is written in such a way that you just want to keep reading it, even if you already know some of the information presented. There are many photos, which make the book a pleasure to read. As one who has studied good layout, I feel that I can say that the formatting and typestyles were well chosen. There are a lot of natural treatments for which recipes are given, but if you prefer to buy your hair care products, there is an extensive list of currently available shampoos, conditioners and styling products and when to use them in the last chapter of the book. About the only thing I would have liked to see information about is the controversial Brazilian Blowout that is so popular these days, and it's keratin spin-offs, both of which use high heat to seal the products into the hair. I am giving the book 4 out of 5 stars, only because the photos are in black and white, and for the list price of the book, I think they should have been in color. Disclaimer: I received the book, by my request, as a member of librarything's early reviewers program, but my comments are my own and were not influenced by this factor. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This book is very informative and user friendly. It covers the range of hair problems and offers practical solutions. It is a great read as it is easy to navigate, fun and very well presented. Be sure to check it out if you have a specific problem or just want to learn how to take better care of hair. no reviews | add a review

I have to say, the black and white photos don't bother me. In fact I think that I prefer them over color substitutes. I think this book is beyond wonderful and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Its definitely staying on my bookshelf! Or maybe in my bag!
