Loading... The Little Mermaidby Lisbeth Zwerger
None. Someone told me this: "Do you know Andersen wrote it as a gay love letter to his friend, when the latter got engaged. Andersen told him of his feelings, but the friend rejected him, so the poor guy wrote this story as a metaphor for his desire." I'm eager to reread it from this perspective. Sometime before my tenth birthday I read this book for the first time. I hated it. And I read it again. And again. I still hate it. And the Disney version is even worse. Genre: Fairy Tale Characterization: 5 Stars Review: The little mermaid dreamed of spending life ashore and was willing to give up her comfortable home life to live on land. This book is a good example of a fairy tale because it is literature that has been passed down through generations by people retelling them. Media: colored pencils "The Little Mermaid" is a popular fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. The story of the little mermaid who fell in love with a human boy. It is a tale of unrequited love and self-sacrifice. no reviews | add a review
