This whole series of books is my absolute favorite and has been since I was a young girl. I love to reread them every few years, and am never bored with them. As a matter of fact, I discover something new with every rereading. They are fabulous books about our country's history and a little girl named Laura. ( )

This is a great book for elementary aged children, probably grades 4 and up. The story is told in the third person and Laura Ingalls is the central character. Little House on the prairie is both an enjoyable read and also quite educational. While reading children can gain more knowledge about the 19th century and learn what life on the American frontier was like. This text is about Laura's family and their move from Wisconsin to Kansas. It is quite easy to get engaged and feel connected with this family that is excited for their new life on the prairie.

This book is just one of many of the Little House series.

Little House on the Prairie is the second book in the Little House on the Prairie series. When the Big Woods of Wisconsin start to get too busy, the Ingalls family pack up their covered wagon and head into Indian country, settling in Oklahoma. There pa builds a log cabin and stables, the family makes new friends in their neighbours and Indians visit on a semi-regular basis. Sickness, fires and a government decision all challenge the Ingalls family and the final chapter sees them loading up their covered wagon and heading out on the road again. ( )
