This is among the nicest of books of individual church congregations I have seen. It is professionally done from cover to cover. I have a beautiful hardbound edition, although a paperbound edition was printed as well. It is printed on acid free paper too.

The first thing a casual review will reveal is that the book is chuck-full of color photos. Color is used throughout, even when strictly b&w would suffice, as in the case of old b&w or sepia tone photos. Color adds so much to the enjoyment of the book!

The book has two major parts. The first 85 pages provide a narrative (with numerous photos and images) of the history of the Christian Church prior to its beginning in Monticello, Illinois up to the present day. Every minister and staff person are discussed. The remainder of the book provides a detailed discussion (again supported with photos and images) of the buildings owned by the congregation and of the numerous contributions by the members.

The author told me that it took two years of research to compile the contents. It shows in the final copy.

There is no index to the book, but the reader should find the book easy to navigate as the table of contents is excellent. The book is truly a work of art and should be of value to anyone interested in the history of the Christian Church of Monticello, Illinois. ( )
