Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird - I know I've used this recently, but have no books with Lawrence in the title and this is the only one with Oppenheimer. American Prometheus sounds fascinating, and would fit both my biography and 20th-century US history categories. I started American Prometheus several years ago and have never gotten back to it. Thanks for the reminder to pick it back up again. 6. American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin

... and Society," though objectively a good description of what (say) Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin were writing about in American Prometheus, has a distinctly presentist, public-policy-oriented air about it.
The only term that I've come up with in two days of thinking about the question is ... I finished American Prometheus and the audiobook of Oliver Twist last week. Now I am halfway through Lamb ... my first encounter with Christopher Moore's work. I'm also partway through the audiobook of Three Men in a Boat.
I recently read Running with Scissors for my book group and didn't care for it at all.
This week I finished American Prometheus about J. Robert Oppenheimer and really enjoyed it.

* American Prometheus by Kai Bird & Martin Sherwin ... many voices. It is fascinating, deeply moving, and terrifying.
Fascinating that it would be chosen the same year that American Prometheus wins the Biography prize. Has anyone read this or any of the other winners?
