Started this last night and finished it this afternoon. I just get sucked into the world of Celta. Garrett has a flair for Fams and can link his mind to the feral ones that he has helping him with his private investigation firm. Artemesia is a healer and she has to help him go through an illness that he lived through. Garrett knows she's his heartmate but because of a love for a dead woman doesn't want to claim her. Of course he realizes once he tells her (something that is forbidden by the way) he's not going to claim her that he wants to claim her.

Hope we get more in this series! ( )

Celta is such an interesting world, so easy to fall into. I can never wait to get the next installment and when I finish a new book, I always want to go back and re-read the old ones. ( )

I always look forward to a new Robin Owens book, and this was a pleasant installment in this series. I am having trouble keeping track of the passage of time overall (from the beginning of the series to this present book) but that's fairly easily overlooked. This one was tighter and more engaging than the previous few books; it seemed like the author was more engaged this time and not just writing to continue the series. ( )

A return visit to the world of Celta and the story of Heart Mates Garrett and Artemisia. Of course, as usual in these books, true love does not have an easy path. Many characters from earlier books in the series make an appearance and the feral Fams that Garrett uses as informers (He's a private investigator.) are more interesting than some of the spoiled Fams of earlier books. Recommended for fans of the series but it does assume that readers are at least somewhat familiar with this world already.

On the faraway planet Celta, there are some things you can never tell—until someone discovers your Heart Secret…

When a virulent disease killed the woman he loved and her baby, Garrett Primross was left alive, a reluctant survivor. Now, as a private eye, he strives to banish the memories of his past and rebuild his life. The Healers of Celta have something else in mind: Discover why he survived.

He is monitored by Healer Artemisia Panax—his HeartMate, a love he never pursued. Still mourning his loss, he refuses to acknowledge her. Since her family was publicly disgraced, she's used to such treatment. She wants nothing more than to guard her livelihood and protect the secrets she's sworn to keep.

Thrown together by duty, Garrett and Artemisia find the body of the last Black Magic Cultist who ruined her family. Suspicion flares, but they have little choice but to investigate the crime together. When their own lives are placed in danger, they realize that denying their HeartMates is only denying their own future.
