Gil Jordan or Gill Jourdan in French was created by Iconic Maurice Tillieux one of the most fascinating creators of comics from the BELGIAN school.
It is noteworthy that he was not belgo-centrist in his comics, a reflection of his marine merchant life, perhaps. This crime story is superbly illustrated.

Going around the censorship of the time for a youth publication, Tillieux does not show the body of the victim and the crime's weapon is a force of nature. Glistening from rain or enveloped by snow in the desolate wintery landscapes of a small coastal town, Gil Jordan reaches the limits of his physical endurance and with sidekicks Inspector Crouton and Libellule (Dragonfly) elucidates this mistery narrowly escaping the same fatal ending as the victim.

One will remember his arrival at the Happy Knight - what a wonderful name for such a desolate place - tower which has become as classic, for sequential art amateurs, as that of Tintin's boat ride to the Tower of "L'ile Noire". ( )
