A fine, accessible survey of classical philosophy. You won't get all that deeply into any one school of philosophy, but Evans has included an appendix of further reading for anything that intrigues you. I really liked how he showed how each of the schools is being used in modern life through anecdotes of individuals practicing it. I also appreciate that he's willing to criticize them. Whether or not the reader agrees with his criticisms, it's a good reminder to do some critical thinking before adopting any of them. If you're already familiar with classical philosophy, you probably won't learn anything new about it from this book. although you may enjoy learning about the modern manifestations, and if this is new to you, this book may be a good starting point.
