This is a wonderfully funny recollection of growing up with an eccentric (and later famous) father. Sir Hiram Maxim was an inventor from a family of inventors. (He invented the Maxim machine gun; his son, the author of this book, invented the Maxim silencer.) This book is a set of stories, told by his son, that shows not only the father's inventiveness but also his wicked sense of humor. ( )
