Self-important Zara Hamilton flees to Africa to do volunteer work after Nick, her boyfriend, is caught doing insider trading. She is suspected of providing confidential information and then put on administrative leave by the firm where she works. Soon after Zara's arrival in Africa, she meets and falls for handsome Hamish Walters, who is already seeing another woman. In this quick moving chick literature, you need to wait until the end to find out if this fashionista will capture Hamish, return to Nick or give up on men altogether.

Too many confusing phrases in this very typical girl meets boy tale. ( )

A quick, easy to read debut novel from Kate Metz. Basic chick lit material of girl not interested in guy, girls gets to know guy, girl loves guy which a bunch of misunderstandings in between.

As a debut novel it was Ms. Metz provides the reader with no new surprises. I was not overall taken with the plot. In essence a young twenty something junior lawyer who lives by all things with a label, has her life and career turned upside down by her current boyfriend. Her solution? Go to Africa as a wildlife volunteer to lay low for a few months. Of course the protagonist Zara has to pack her snakeskin stilettos for this trip. Snakeskin stilettos? Of course the absurdity of this situation is what gives the novel it's comedic aspects.

I felt the story was a bit rushed. The relationship between Zara and Hamish went from him calling her a bimbo to total love in a span of a few months. She never calls him out for calling her a bimbo.

A quick cute read. ( )

But just when things start to cool down at home, Zara realizes her troubles have only just begun. Will Zara’s designer wardrobe survive? Will a supermodel ruin her only chance at happiness? Can a Birkin bag really solve her problems? And will Zara want her old life back at the end of it all…… (more)
