Another good book from John Seymour. The book tells, mostly in pictures, of a rural way of life which has been replaced by modern machinery. The photographs are fascinating and John Seymour's narrative is empathic as he relates the hardship endured by the farm workers but also captures the honesty and strength of character of these people who earned their living by hard work.

If anything can be criticized of this work it is only that it isn't long enough for a more in-depth treatment. ( )
