Feng Shui for Architecture provides the reader with an incredibly clear and well-written historical overview on the origins and evolution of feng shui. Simona F. Mainini subscribes to traditional methods and focuses in this book on tangible energies and basic principles of feng shui – the opposing polarities of yin and yang, the transformational cycles of the five elements, an introduction to the eight trigrams, and understanding the manifestation and flow of chi in the environment. While she herself practices advanced methods of assessment, she chooses not to expound upon them in this particular work. Instead, she advises readers to seek out competent feng shui professionals to implement these advanced methods for identifying the intangible energies surrounding a site. Mainini touches on the Eight Mansions Theory. Her approach is consistent with the Bright Mirror Classic teachings employing the house kua concept. A number of examples from Mainini’s client consultations are scattered throughout the book to highlight the salient points in her presentation.
