Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 371651716X, Hardcover)Stunning photography of empty underground water reservoirs which reveal stark concrete interiors
The name, location and the year the reservoirs were constructed accompany these beautiful images
'A reservoir of water is also a container of patience - a piece of eternity is stored here. Later, after the next Ice Age, archeologists will find this untouched burial chamber and ponder the rites that must have been celebrated here.' Benedikt Loderer in his preface
In his pictures the photographer Silvio Maraini presents a space in an entirely different light. While the water is drained Maraini took pictures of water reservoirs. His pictures present an unknown space which is indescribably beautiful and seem to be almost cathedral like - an underwater cathedral.
Reservoirs include: Chapf, Brütten (1966); Scharten 1, Wettingen (1931); Lengg, Zürich (1960); Schleufenberg, Bülach (2004); Steingruben, Solothurn (1881); Scharten 2, Wettingen (1947); Oberholz, Aarau (1899); Herteren, Wettingen (1984); Beichlen, Oetwil Am See (2003).
