None. The spare text, based on a 12th-century story, is quite philosophical: this is not a "children's book" per se. The design of the book is remarkable, and the joy is in the details of Sis's lush illustrations. ( )Sis's breathtaking art brings new life to the 12th century Persian epic poem. Stunningly illustrated and beautifully designed. Absolutely gorgeous book about the joyous path that beings ought to pursue together. Admittedly, the story is told from the perspective of birds, but I got the parallel to mankind. Looking back, I now regret donating my copy to the library. I wish I could read this book again, and admire the beautiful illustrations. P.S. A great big thanks to Richard for bringing this lovely book to my attention! Another beautifully illustrated book from Peter Sis. In the true spirit of poetry, the few words he choses to adapt from the lengthy original beautifully convey the messages and story of the original. Gorgeous illustrations, which is exactly what I expected from Peter Sis, but the story was a little too allegorical for my mood. no reviews | add a review Is an adaptation of
