Excellent book! Before reading this book, I had never heard of this thing referred to as "self-talk." Drs. Backus and Chapian present information on this vital topic in a relevant way. It is probably more the doctor's perspective rather than the pateint's, but it is easy to comprehend. The actual application is much harder of course; but, when over a lifetime an individual fills his mind with many lies and falsehoods, it takes much hard work and dedication to become "free" again. Wonderful book, would encourage it to any suffering with negative self-talk (or other psychological problems). It has a very-evangelical view on the pschological aspects of this problem; both doctors share the greatest need of all those suffering from these types of problems- a personal "life-changing" relationship with the Life-Changer, Jesus Christ. This book teaches a great basic truth we should all already know. It's about being honest with yourself. Unfortunately, many of us are programmed from birth to lie to ourselves and don't even know it. This book exposes untruth and teaches you how to recognize it. It teaches you how to believe real truth. ( )
