The book is hefty, the scores are dense (but beautifully handwritten)-the topic is huge. Of course it's hefty. What better way to play homage to your favorite band but learn their songs on a instrument and sing (in harmony)? Slightly more accurate transcriptions occasionally surface in magazines, but no one is going to beat this costly and massive tome. Get a hefty music stand. ( )

This book is excellent and contains any songs written or recorded by the Beatles (as a group or individually, for the most part). It contains all the parts, and for those that are ad libbed it explains what kind of ad lib is done. This book is a gem! ( )

Little Print, but nontheless -- a good way to playing Beatles Songs! ( )

These are not piano adaptions with guitar chords of the music of The Beatles, these are transcriptions from the recordings of the intsrumental and vocal parts. If you want to see George's part on Taxman, or the string parts on I Am The Walrus, here they are. There are mistakes, but overall this is a marvelous way to learn and analyze the Beatle ouvre. ( )

This essential book is to date the only complete collection of scores to every Beatle song. (There are other collections of transcriptions of selected songs, but even those do not attempt to include every voice and instrument.)

While this book does have many errors, it is, for now, the best we have. It is thus invaluable as a research and study text, and in fact is used by Walter Everett as the reference score in his excellent two volume analyses, "The Beatles As Musicians." Everett notes and corrects many of the errors in the Scores in the course of his song-by-song analysis. Taken together, those two books and this one form the core of any attempt to do scholarly musical (as opposed to cultural or biographical) analysis of The Beatles.

Perhaps the only flaw to The Beatles Complete Scores is its format: the type is tiny, and the book is hefty. I suspect that most users of this book are going to be boomers with failing eyes, and it is very hard to read. It's surprising that it has not been issued in multiple volumes in large format (8.5 x 11 in.) like so many other pop music transcriptions. A version analogous to the multi-volume set of every song by The Who would be great to have and much easier to use.
