I listened to the Audio book of Dry which is about a Gay alcoholic and his climbing onto and falling back off of the wagon.
It was pretty good, I listened to it when I was commuting from PA to MD every weekend. ... I liked it so much that I just ordered the movie version (starring Annette Bening and Brian Cox) and I'll be looking for Dry - the follow up and by all accounts just as good - very soon! ... I liked it so much that I just ordered the movie version (starring Annette Bening and Brian Cox) and I'll be looking for Dry - the follow up and by all accounts just as good - very soon! Thanks Hunterin - I hadn't read anything else of his but I'll look out for Dry having enjoyed Running with Scissors so much! I actually listened to Dry by Burroughs a long time before reading anything by Sedaris. I have been told many times that listening to their books read them is the way to go. Ellie- I hope you enjoy Running with Scissors. It's an excellent memoir. Funny, quirky and very disturbing. His follow-up Dry is equally as good. 45. Dry, Augusten Burroughs
5/5 stars
Even more poignant for me than Running with Scissors, this novel really delved into the demons of addiction, the way our past is reflected in our present, and the complexities of adult relationships. I've just added three "like-new" books by Augusten Burroughs (Dry, Magical Thinking, and Possible Side Effects) as well as a beautiful copy of The Areas of My Expertise.

I found it not a busy as Running with Scissors I read this book very quickly, I didn't want to put it down. The way that Burroughs writes about the humour and sadness in his life makes it a great read.
