For the new edition, I have thoroughly revised the whole volume and have added three new chapters. The longest of these deals with the ministry at the time Of the Reformation. It supplements happily the interpretation of the Reformation Offered in the several chapters Of the first section. The two Others treat the contribution to Protes tant thought by Harnack and Barth.
