Very interesting story and characters. Story tempo is fantastic and dialog is great, I have to admit I was sceptical when I saw this one in store but decided to give it ago. And believe me it is great.

This one shows you can work with esoteric, outworldly and alien without becoming perverse and/or sadistical (just look at new episodes of Metabaron as an example of shock through utmost perverse).

Highly recommended for anyone looking for mix of SF and fantasy but keep in mind that material is for adults. ( )

A little too graphic on the sex and language, but overall a very good beginning. Character development is good. Plot line is chugging along without too many story lines, and enough drive to keep your interest. Pencils and color work is way above average. Four stars may get increased if the series continues to develop. ( )

Marko is an escaped prisoner, who fell in love with his guard, Alana. They are from two different planets that have been at war with each other for so long that no one remembers why, but now they’re in love, and have a baby, and are on the run through strange and distant worlds.

Theoretically I really enjoy this, and I do find myself still thinking about it a few days later. The story is simple and the world is complicated. The characters are so odd…I understand who the people with horns are and the people with wings, but I don’t understand why the prince of the winged people has a tv for a head, or how everyone else fits in. It’s intriguing enough for me to keep going, but the Brian K. Vaughan of it all keeps me from really loving it. The edgelord-y ‘00s vibe is just not for me - I don’t think any book needs to start with the words “Am I shitting?”, the nudity and sexual exploitation are gratuitous, and there’s an R-slur that I thought we stopped using in the ‘90s. I might keep going, but I’ll get future volumes from the library. ( )

Wow....just....wow. This story was AMAZING. If you haven't dove into the world of Graphic Novels yet, you should with this one. It has been said its "Star Wars, meets Romeo and Juliet, meets Game of thrones". I can't wait to get the rest of the series.

Some of the art is out there, but not too much to push you away, but rather pull you in. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good story. ( )

Quick & chatty - I loved Izabel, thought The Will was interesting all things considered, wanted to know more about The Stalk and the planet of Cleave in general.

Art was, as always with Staples beautifully done with just the right detailed emphasis when needed. Vaughn has historically been uneven for me after the first volume, but so far I'm engaged and eager for more!

Read for The Reading Quest, Bard Path - "A Book That Has Been Banned or Challenged" (SAGA was a top banned book 2014 according to the ALA website). ( )

After us locals die, we get to live on as "spiritual defenders of Cleave."
But clearly, that's a suck-ass evolutionary plan, since your two armies had no problem wiping our people off the map.
