>112 have you read much else by Morrison? I don't think Sula is one of her best, personally. 41. Sula by Toni Morrison. Audio book. This is really not any kind of classic IMO but I loved the message the book sends at the end, that the love of a man is not always as important as the love of a good friend and I also thought some of the images were beautiful e.g. Sula arriving back in Medall ... ... been thinking about The Paperboy. Paris Trout remains one of my favorite books and the characters remind me a lot of Sula by Toni Morrison. ... isn't it?

The Bluest Eye is not as sophisticated feeling, there is a connection there that I didn’t feel with Beloved, Sula, Song of Solomon or even A Mercy and I feel that is what makes it my favorite. I've read a lot of her earlier works--Song of Solomon, Tar Baby, Sula, The Bluest Eye, Beloved, and Paradise. I wasn't too crazy about the last listed, so I skipped Jazz and Love and anything else that came out in that period. ... #14 --> *whispers* It does to me, too.
There was a literature class I had signed up for that was supposed to read Sula but the class dropped because of low enrollment. That's the same reason I've never read Beowulf, though they were two separate classes.
My college classes didn't ... Funny how similar women in lit classes can be mine was a few years back and I had to read Sula and Housekeeping and To the Lighthouse. We also read criticism and poems by H.D. and I Rigoberta Menchu and The Gold Cell. There were others but I can't remember what they were at the moment.
