100 Snowflakes to Crochet is a beautiful pattern book with a nice variety of snowflake designs. The book includes sections where everything you need to crochet flakes is discussed. Tools and materials needed as well as instructions on how to stiffen and block your finished snowflakes to give them a hard or semi hard finish. I like the delicate look of crocheted snowflakes so I was excited to give some of these patterns a go.

The book includes a 'Crochet Refresher Course' complete with illustrated instructions on all the stitches used in this book. I like the 'Snowflake Showcase' at the start of the book, all 100 flakes are shown with their names and what page the pattern is on for easy reference. I found this extremely helpful when picking and choosing which flake I wanted to make. The patterns themselves in order from beginner level, to intermediate and finally advanced.

As for myself, I found the patterns a bit challenging even though each pattern comes with a photo of the snowflake and a stitch diagram. Maybe it's just me, but I kept having to frog the flakes I was making. (frogging being crochet terminology for having to rip out stitches and start over) I will be trying a few of the patterns again though, as I'm determined to make a few more of these pretty snowflakes.

I ended up crocheting a snowflake using cotton yarn, since I myself don't crochet with thread.
This beginners pattern is called 'Droxtal' and can be found on page 47.

The book ends with project ideas for your finished snowflakes, which I thought was a nice touch. One idea I found really cute is hanging your snowflakes from a few artificial twigs to make a pretty decorative display.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. This review is my own opinion. I did not receive any type of compensation for reading and reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers and authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. ( )
