Fantasy. Fiction. Literature. HTML:

Sean never asked to be an O'Hara, and he didn't ask to be cursed by one either.

After inheriting a hexed druid stone from his great-grandfather, Sean starts reliving another man's torture and death...every single night. And only one person can help.

Cormac Kelly runs a paranormal investigation business and doesn't have time to deal with misinformed tourists like Sean. But Sean has real magic in his pocket, and even though Cormac is a descendant of legendary druids, he soon finds himself out of his depth...and not because Sean's the first man he's felt anything for in a long time.

The pair develop an unexpected and intensely sexual bond, but are threatened at every turn when Sean's case attracts the unwelcome attention of the mad sidhe lords of ancient Ireland. When Sean and Cormac are thrust backward in time to Ireland's violent history--and their own dark pasts--they must work together to escape the curse and save their fragile relationship.

Was awarded an ARC from the authors.

Really enjoyed the imagery that was woven throughout the story. There were times that I felt I was right in the moment with Sean and Cormac! I've always been a fan of stories that delve into Sidhe lore/history. If you enjoy stories that twist and turn as though you were on a spiral staircase then this is the story for you. There were times I should have been lost but these wonderful authors kept me right on path with whispered words of wisdom *don't look back*. ( )

The author uses a mix of Celtic mythology, magic, history, time travel, and romance create this epic story. I found the characters to be interesting and there was definitely a lot of complexity. The only issue I had was how confusing the plot became at times, and I had a hard time following along without having to do some re-reading. I heard Scottish and Irish spoken all my life, so I didn't have any problem understanding the reader, but I think anyone that was unfamiliar with the accent and some of the terminology might have difficulty with it. I also had difficulty telling if the point of view being expressed was Connor's or Sean's. There are a lot of supporting characters, including creatures, animals, a wonderfully accepting family, really good friends and former lovers. I do wish there had been a bit more romance between Connor and Sean but overall, it was a really good story with some outstanding creepy bits. ( )

This book was LONG! That isn’t a bad thing, just a statement. There was a lot of information in the book and a lot of world building. I did get lost a couple of times due to the extravagance of that world and how things pieced together, but it was well written overall. It had an interesting premise and was a pretty good book. I found myself not expecting the ending to work out the way I wanted it to Cormac still seemed too much in love with Michael to ever let him go and to be with Sean but it worked out and made sense in the end. I liked this book. ( )

I love these kinds of stories that borrow from mythology and history and give them their own twist. The world building and setting the story must be done just right or it's not going to work at all. Belleau and Vane knew what they were doing.

At times I found it a bit difficult to follow the story, so much of it was new and the world building was an ongoing project until the end. I think this is more urban fantasy than paranormal - but it's on the list! - where the romance comes in second after the actual story. Both were handled really well here, though I do prefer a bit more passion with my romance. But Cormac and Sean's easy relationship in all it's drama-freeness was sweet, and occasionally hot.

The problem with constant world building is that it can get a bit boring to read; I'm not a fan of endless narration of one thing or another, I prefer dialog and interaction between characters. This got a bit dull a few times but a few short power naps here and there and I was good to go again.

Props for a novel concept, I really liked the whole druid thing. ( )

Not sure how to characterize this book, horror, suspense, or druid/witches.. Perhaps a mixture of all. I will say that I had a profound enough reaction to the book that I will be making a blog book review about it this week.

Very well written. I loved the attention to detail and the historical accuracy. My undergrad History degree was pleased.

Overall, this was a wonderful book! It satisfied a taste I had for both male/male romance as well as historical/fantasy storylines. The writing was excellent and the character development and theme well defined and explored. ( )
