Catherine Gray came back to Aurora Falls to start a psychology practice, and wound up falling in love with James Eastman. Catherine does admit she always had deep feelings for him. James however had married another only to have her leave without a trace and forcing him to divorce her for desertion. Well without a trace that is until Catherine falls on top of her dead body literally.

The thing that bothered me the most about this book was the character of Catherine. From the beginning and into the middle of the book she came across as very needy. She keeps insisting that James Eastman should have called her about everything he does...and everything he does seems out of character. It wasn't as if he was her patient...he was supposedly her boyfriend but she expected him to check in with her constantly. That personality doesn't seem in tune with the personality of a psychologist that is giving others advice. The suspense was lackluster and the story dragged on. I had to backtrack through some of the pages just to remember who the characters were and what had transpired. The characters just felt two-dimensional. ( )

Starts off good, but gets a little slow in the middle of the book ( )

My biggest pet peeves in fiction writing are stilted speech, inane dialogue that just wouldn’t happen between two people, descriptions of the obvious, and errors in the time line. Unfortunately, this book is full of all of these things.
