Dit boek geeft inzicht in achtergrond en situatie van door verlies getraumatiseerde vluchtelingen. Kennis over het transitiemodel, familiesystemen en de werking van krachtbronnen zoals 'beschermjassen' zijn hierbij van belang. Daarnaast is er aandacht voor de rol van de therapeut zelf die, door het gebruik van instrumenten zoals het 'Cultureel Interview', het genogram, de levenslijn en andere methoden, de behandeling op systematische wijze vorm dient te geven. Hierbij is een transitionele ruimte, waar vertrouwen en veiligheid heerst, een van de voorwaarden om tot genezing te komen. ( )
