Oh, I don't know. It was...ok? It was also pretty contrived.
Beth, the country bumpkin that only had loved one man in her life. Then she found him boinking one of the town girls and he breaks her heart. The beginning of the book alludes several times to "what he had done to her" and why she was so miserable. Honestly, I thought for a while he had beat her or something.
Anyway, Beth's father has a wealthy godmother that offers up her posh London flat to Beth while godmother goes on a retreat to Montana.
Cue country girl alone in the big city.
Beth meets Dominic, Dominic's a Dom (tee hee, get it?? Dominic, the Dom??? *sigh* ) they have a flurry of ups and downs and then there is a cliffhanger at the end. Isn't that the way now?
What I didn't get: Beth is supposedly this small town, naive girl...but in the span of 4 weeks she is doing things that would make a seasoned seductress blush. It was just not real to me. She went from weak and mousy to full on temptress instantly. No one does that.
In the end, it was...ok. Not great. There needed to be a LOT more delving into the characters. Maybe the second book will make it better? ( )

Elizabeth "Beth" Villers' boyfriend Adam was her first and only love they had been 'an item' for years. She has finally finished her 4 year degree and has returned home for good. Unfortunately, one night when she went to his house to surprise him, she was the one that was surprised. Instead of his guy friends at the house watching sports and drinking beer, she found him in bed with another woman.
Since they lived in a small town there wasn't really anywhere she could go that didn't open her up to walking in to them or the gossip that was being spread about them. So Beth was spending most of her time at home and was very depressed.
Beth's father had a godmother who they very seldom saw. She was a unique individual who had lived a very different life style from the rest of the family. She contacted Beth's father and told him that she was going away for about six weeks and would need an apartment sitter. She wanted to know if Beth would be interested in doing her that favor. It would give her an opportunity to visit London. Beth gladly accepted and was soon on her way. What adventures she would have!
I loved the characters. Beth started as a rather depressed mousy person, but grew and strengthened throughout the book. She met and fell in love with Dominic, who was tall dark and handsome and into BDSM. He also changed throughout the book and seemed to me to be a bit of a tortured hero. The book was well written, rather erotic in places, held my interest very well and the plot grew in intensity from beginning to end. I very much enjoyed the book and will be buying the other two books from this series! ( )
