Book description
In Words Are Not Enough, author and former shelter employee Juniper gives readers a picture of what it's like to work in a shelter for women who have been the victims of domestic violence. Through stories and reflections, Juniper communicates the many ways she perceives the culture in this particular shelter to be harmful to the well-being of both the women admitted and the employees. She concludes with the call for communities to create shelters using grassroots movements and community involvement, as well as a number of recommendations for preventing burnout in these facilities.
