Lovely book. Young writings of a restless soul and adventurer. Life as a young man at sea in China, Puerto Rico, The Caribbean, West US and such. I liked the description of the sea and fishing at Wake Island. Mr Hubbard was a scrappy teen and had a more interesting youth than many of us I would guess.

Circumstances or environments were harsh and chaotic or grueling in many instances.
