Emma Thompson takes nothing away from Beatrix Potter. If anything, she pays perfect homage. She narrates the story in the attached CD and it is a family-friendly delight. Her lilting English accent draws you into Peter's story and the musical bed is a sprightly accompaniment. The illustrations reflect Potter's style but the dusky colors have a sunnier vibrance. ( )

"The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit" is an adventurous story where Peter Rabbit gets into trouble on account of his inability to keep his appetite in check. His adventure is one of excitement and a little bit of hunger. Both times Peter gets into something he would prefer not to, it is because of his hunger. This story is one that reminds children to be wary of their inability to control themselves lest they end up in a less than preferable situation.
