This is perhaps my favorite book so far. It really touched me and evoked such strong emotions as I read it. Well done, Julie! I was a blubbering, teary-eyed mess at one point during my reading! Good thing everyone else was still asleep! I have just finished reading this book and I dearly loved it.Sad to see this series end, but glad there this another series to go! :) ( )

When reading the opening lines of "A Passion Most Pure" - the first of six novels in the two series, Daughters of Boston and Winds of Change, the story of the O'Connor siblings - by award-winning author, Julie Lessman - little did I know how swiftly and passionately the O'Connor family would steal my "readers heart" and inspire my relationship with God!! Six novels later - I was reluctant and sad to leave a family that had become a part of me and more than fictional characters, when I finished "A Love Surrendered" - the story of the youngest son, Steven.

"A Love Surrendered" opens in 1932 Boston - during the era of Prohibition, bootleggers, and speakeasies. Steven O'Connor is a Prohibition agent who comes to the aid of Annie Kennedy when she is accosted by two inebriated males on Ocean Pier. Annie is a naïve, seventeen year old, orphan drawn into a fast crowd at Ocean Pier after moving to the city life of Boston - from Iowa. Steven is trying to overcome the pain of a broken relationship with his first true love - another serious relationship isn't in his current life plans. Plans go awry when Steven and Annie find themselves attracted to each other, Annie reveals a secret, and Steven attempts to overcome feelings of guilt over his previous relationship, and a past altercation with his father.

In true Julie Lessman fashion, the web becomes more entangled, twisted, and complicated, as more characters are drawn into the story and even more unexpected secrets are revealed. All O'Connor family members are there to love again, and as usual - the children pull at your "heart-strings", especially Glory and Gabe. As always, flawed characters redeemed by a loving God - supply a happy ending to the final episode of the heart-warming O'Connor family. With each novel, Julie put her characters and readers "through the wringer" with her trademark writing style that features an abundance of passion, family, angst, humor, tears, anger, unexpected twists, romance, drama, guilt, redemption, a forgiving God, and a happy ending.

I was blessed to be able to read all six novels on the O'Connors - back-to-back, without interruption - it is impossible to read one novel from the two series without desiring, and feeling the necessity, to read the other five!! Julie Lessman is a master storyteller - I will joy in rereading each of the six novels in the Daughters of Boston and Winds of Change series, over and over again!! ( )

Series: Wings of Change #3
Review:

A Love Surrendered by Julie Lessman was the conclusion to the series Winds of Change #3. We find that this novel of one of the six O'Connor children, Steven. This novel was definitely one that you will not be able to put down until the end with this one being full of a story of 'love, surrender and trust.'

We find that this novel is during a period of Prohibition area and Steven is a prohibition agent..'straight laced guy who is committed to his Irish Catholic family. Now, this story will take off from here with a lots of 'surprising twist' in this story. Then we find Annie Kennedy who is almost eighteen who is seeming has come about to need Steven O'Connor protection in one way or another. There is a big secret than Annie is holding that can break her heart as well as his. Now, what could that be. This is where I say you must pick up the excellent read to find out. The theme of this novel holds to 'staying pure and obeying God in physical realtaions' however, this novel does get very graphic in its descriptions of the struggles the characters do go through. "A Love Surrendered" has a lot of drama and even some humor. I do think picking up the first two books will help some in this reading of the interesting O'Connor's.

If you are looking for a read that has it all...romance, drama, history, humor, with very captivating characters you have come to the right place...for "A Love Surrendered" would be recommended to you. ( )

A LOVE SURRENDERED by Julie Lessman is a inspirational historical romance set in 1932 Boston, Massachusetts. It is the third in the "Winds of Change" series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, "A Hope Undaunted" and "A Heart Revealed". Written with vivid descriptions of the era and engaging characters who not only capture your heart, but who will have you turning pages as they inspire you to dare to dream. Filled with danger, secrets, family drama, romance, love, faith, twists and turns and full of emotions. What a fast paced, emotional whirlwind story "A Love Surrendered" is a not to miss read. Once again Ms. Lessman has written a heart-pounding,emotional ride of a story. Annie Kennedy and Steven O'Connor have their hands and hearts full from beginning to end. Follow them on their journey to find many things including love, through many challenges and lives ups and downs. Written with true life in mind and its many twists and turns. While, this is a christian title it in no way is "preachy" or overly done,so anyone who enjoys historical romance and the 1930 era, will enjoy this series. What a wonderful conclusion to the "Winds of Change"series. I can hardly wait to read what this author has in store for her readers next. I have enjoyed all her books so far. A must read! Received for an honest review from the publisher. Details can be found at the author's website,Revell,a division of Baker Publishing Group and My Book Addiction and More.

A book I was enjoying so much, I didn't want it to end. The third book in this amazing series, and there is enough information presented to read it alone, but don't deny yourself and read the other two!
Annie [Susannah] as she now wants to be called, and now wants to leave her good girl image behind in Iowa. She wants to experience Boston like her sister Maggie did. She has made some very worldly friends, and ends up being rescued from one of her bad choices by FBI Agent Steven O'Connor. She becomes smitten with him, only to find out he is Maggie's former beau.
Loved looking at Prohibition time Boston, a glimpse of Speakeasies and bootlegging.
Enjoy your time visiting with the O'Connor family, yes they are still at it. Such love and fun, and now getting bigger, and above all a Great Love of God. They have such a faith centered life, and share it! I get such a warm feeling spending time in Marcy and Patrick's home, and how they love each and everyone in their family. There interaction at times is hysterical...they know each other so well.
I fear this is the last book in this series, and hope it isn't true! Be sure to savor this one!

I received this book from the Publisher Revell and their Blogger Program, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
