... from low self esteem. In fact she is very aware of her strengths and because of that she is very likeable!
139. Ark by Stephen Baxter
This is the sequel to Flood which I read last year and ... I read Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds. I thought it was a decent sequel to Revelation Space, though I still like the first book more. Maybe I was in too much of a hurry to finish it, or I wasn't in the proper mood when I started, but it felt like the book didn't have enough story for ... Just finished Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds. It was enjoyable, but not on the same level as Revelation Spaceand Redemption Ark. ... set in Reynold's Revelation Space universe.
Unfortunately Chasm City is not as successful as Revelation Space or Redemption Ark, the second in that series. R Space and R Ark have a grand, sweeping feel taking in several groups of people whose histories and future are linked.
Althoug ... I didn't think much of Century Rain either. I enjoyed Reynold's Revelation Space and Redemption Ark much more. The stories are much more complex. "Gently, lovingly, she pulled him back from the ledge."
Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds
"'But why that name? Does it mean something to you?'" ... not quite as smooth as I had hoped, but I'm reserving judgment.
7. I'm on page 188 with 181 yet to read.

Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds
1. I bought this one used at Edward McKay, a used bookstore in Fayetteville, N.C.
2. Having pulled off the price sticker as I ... #32 I liked Absolution Gap. It was better than Redemption Ark, although perhaps disappointing when compared to Chasm City. ... wonder how different the experience of a business traveller would b.
Re. Reynolds, I've also read Revelation Space and Redemption Ark which i really enjoyed. And Chasm City is sitting on my shelf waiting. For sf I second the recommendation Alastair Reynolds' series Revelation Space and Redemption Ark are two of his books that are quite good if you enjoyed A Deepness in the Sky.
... left after one song...
#57 Al Reynolds is definitely on e of the best of the current generation of British sf writers. Redemption Ark is not even one of his best ones. I'd say Absolution Gap, Chasm City and The Prefect were all better. His short fiction is pretty damn good too. ... Fiction for years - not since my adolescent infatuation with Philip K D - but recently I picked up, quite by chance, Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds.
So far, about 80 pages in, he hasn't put a foot wrong, and it's seriously good.
Is he always like this, or did I just pick up the ... ... upshot is that three Alastair Reynolds books should be arriving in tomorrow's post - Chasm City, Century Rain and Redemption Ark. Does anyone know if there's an order I should read them in?
richardderus - that's such a lovely thing to happen. I wish strangers would give me books! Or ... >13 I adore that series, and of the trilogy, Redemption Ark is by far my favorite. I've actually got Chasm City sitting on my TBR shelf (whoever entered in the series info for those, I'd say got it wrong - Revelation, Redemption, Absolution is a trilogy, and the other novels are stand-alones ... Reading Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I'm loving it. ... els?).
Morgan I have liked (but, as I've also said, he desperately needs an editor).
I've read some Alastair Reynolds--REDEMPTION ARK? Thought it was pretty good but if I'm going to read that kinda thing, I'll go to the source: Mr. Iain Banks. But you liked THE PREFECT so I shall add it to ... ...
re: #37-40
I actaully just picked up two Alistair Reynolds books this weekend. I think they were Absolution Gap & Redemption Ark at a discount sale. I realize that they are the 3rd and 4th books in a series so I'll have to pick up the other two first, but they sure do look interesting. ... ...

Alastair Reynolds's Revelation Space, Redemption Ark and Absolution Gap.
Michael Crichtons Prey.
Legends of Dune: The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade and The Battle of Corrin.

The Reality Dysfunction,The Neutronium Alchemist,The Naked God
Fallen Dragon
Eyes of the Calculor,Mirrorsun Rising,Voices In the Light,The Miocene Arrow ... ... two further books with the same character.
This was what I meant when I mentioned those guys together, as opposed to Redemption Ark/Neutronium Alchemist sort of thing.
