Marla Frazee is one of my favorite illustrators, hands down. This sweet book centers on two dogs who have their little routines down pat, until one day a squirrel turns everything topsy turvy, leaving Boot & Shoe bereft and confused. Read this aloud to a group of preschoolers, who also like their routines (and maybe too their parents and teachers). They will find much to love about Boot & Shoe and will be rooting for a happy ending, because, "even in the worst of times, a dog still needs to pee."

A touching story about two dogs who live together, but enjoy their time apart. But one day, after a squirrel enters in the picture and causes lots of trouble, they each think the other is missing. After searching all day and night, they are reunited.

Boot and Shoe were born in the same litter and now live in the same house together. They even sleep and eat together. All is well in their world until a squirrel comes into the picture and starts some trouble.

This is the story of two dogs named Boot and Shoe. Siblings from the same litter, they do most everything together. Except during the day, where Boot spends his time on the back porch, and Shoe on the front porch. One day, after chasing a troublesome squirrel around and around the house, they collapse in exhaustion. Upon awakening, they both try to find each other on their respective porches. There they wait for the other, spending a sleepless, worry-filled night. The next day they absolutely must pee, and at their favorite pee bush they are reunited.

Anyone who owns an animal will relate to this adorable story about two pets who find their lives turned upside down in a moment, and that sometimes it pays off to be predictable in the end.
