Lee Carmichael is the laird of his clan and a childless widower. He realizes that he will probably have to wed again. However, his first marriage was forced on him and at a rather young age. His wife was tremendously spoiled and caused so much trouble in his life that he has sworn to never marry another Wedgewick woman. Unfortunately there is trouble with neighboring clans who are fighting with each other. The land between the two warring clans is part of the dowry of the youngest Wedgewick sister and aligns with the large piece of land that he received with his now deceased wife's dowry.
I liked the characters and enjoyed the story line. There are a few surprises and twists in the plot which kept me reading onto the night. It was a good read. ( )
