The book is about a woman who made a little gingerbread boy because she and her husband wanted a son. But the little cookie ran away and didn't listen to the woman, man, cow, horse, and farmer to stop running away. Towards the end, a fox tricks the gingerbread boy into letting him carry the boy across the river and eats him.

I like this book for the imagination it gives of having a gingerbread person come to life. I like the artwork for a simple and not too detailed. It was sad when the boy got eaten by the fox. To me, the book gives a reason why you should listen to adults for if the boy listened and didn't run away, he would have not been eaten.

This book would be good to read to a class when some kids are not listening to what an adult tells them to do. It is also good to read when you are about to cook gingerbread men.
