Tanna Barker lived her life balls to the wall. She has 3 wins as a world champion barrel racer and she thought life was just perfect. Then her world came crashing down. After an accident in a competition that left her horse dead and her with injuries, she also lost her mother and her childhood home. The culmination of those things left Tanna panic stricken to ever be around a horse again. At a loss for what to do Tanna heads to Muddy Gap where her friends are to try and restore some balance in her life. On her first night into town she has a one night stand with a sexy stranger but sneaks away in the morning.

August Fletcher has been all work and no play since he decided to become a large animal veterinarian. He’s never regretted his long hours and lack of a social life until he meets a stranger in a bar and one thing leads to another.

Turns out these two have many friends in common and happen to meet again and Fletch decides he wants more than a one-night stand from the ornery stubborn woman.

I saw this book as the healing of Tanna. She has so much pain and fear bottled up inside her and she didn’t trust just anyone to share her feelings with. Fletch tried to let others help Tanna over her fears but when their lack of getting through to her due to her evasiveness doesn’t work he decides he is going to gently but firmly get her past her fears.

There is plenty of face time with previous characters including the always hilarious Mud Lillies. We also got quite a glimpse at the next character getting a book in the series, Devlin McClain. Cant wait to see what Ms James has in store for the country western heartthrob.

James' Blacktop Cowboy series centers on the rodeo competitors who travel around the country with their horses and gear, searching for another win and ultimately a championship belt buckle or trophy. Her latest follows injured barrel racer Tanna Barker who's come out of her accident afraid to get on a horse, a disaster for a multiple award winner.

Like all the hard-hitting rodeo champs, Tanna heads for the bar and a one-night stand, leaving the lusty cowboy before he wakes up in the morning. She's shocked when she's introduced to her nameless cowboy, Dr. August "Fletch" Fletcher, the local livestock veterinarian.

Fletch, on the other hand, is delighted to learn the name of the woman he'd been with, especially since he'd been fantasizing about her after their tryst. He'd also been kicking himself because he'd agreed to her no-name policy. Now he'd have a chance to wine and dine her, and find out if she was the perfect woman for him or not.

Tanna, however, doesn't have time for Fletch since she's come to Wyoming to work with Fletch's cousin, a horse whisperer, to see if she could get back on a horse and eventually resume her barrel racing rodeo career.

While readers needn't have read the previous Blacktop Cowboy books, those who have will delight in seeing all the previous couples together, having children and interacting like family. Good-hearted Tanna is accepted into the fold and becomes one of the gang right away while Fletch has always been part of the ranch community.

Both Tanna and Fletch are genuine products of the West, hard-living and hard-loving, so James' forays into sex are just as graphic as her scenes of ranch life. These are people with no pretensions, who agree that the inability to be around horses is a detriment to anyone's life. Everyone agrees and tries to help Tanna solve her predicament, including a handsome rodeo rider whose attentions spark Fletch's easy-going courtship.

I received this book in the mail on a Saturday and I had it finished by Sunday afternoon. I love reading these modern day westerns and I am not sure why. This is the first book I have read in this series and I can't wait to check out the other books and also check out other books she has written. I loved her style of writing and how kept the book going while still having enough details and stuff like that to keep me hooked. I hoped that Tanna would end up with Fletch because they seemed perfect together. I also understood the fear that Tanna had about barrel racing and I was so proud of her in the end. I can't say more because it will give it away but I recommend this one 100%.

Lorelei James knows how to do Erotic Western Romances so as you could image "Turn and Burn" is another Fabulous book!
Fletch isn't your rancher cowboy but he's a cowboy nonetheless-and smoking hot too!
He just takes his work to the next level leaving no room for anything else.
Tanna is broken and needs a little help getting her life back on track.
She finds lots of friends to help her do just that in Muddy Gap. However Tanna's dream of getting back to barrel racing doesn't jive well with falling in love. Can Fletch and Tanna figure it out or with their job's tear them apart. Lots and lots of hot juicy sweaty sex.
Fabulous ending.

Such a wonderful addition to the Blacktop Cowboys series! Tanna and Fletch are a couple to take note from. They are able to be in love and completely smitten with each other, without losing their own identities. The best part of the story is Fletch's determination and commitment to Tanna. He won't let her run away from her fears or from him. It was also great to catch up with all of the other heroes and heroines from previous books and see how their families and love have grown. Lorelei James has a penchant for creating worlds and characters that suck you in and you cannot wait to revisit. Tanna is my favorite type of heroine, she has no qualms about speaking her mind, and she does not just assume the worst and create a twist in the plot without an explanation. As for Fletch, he is one of those heroes that loves with his whole heart, and is completely dedicated to his work and friends. Fletch definitely makes my list of top book boyfriends of 2013. Turn and Burn is a definite must buy!

Happy Reading!
