None. This book in the Sei series does not follow the previous delve into Japanese culture. This novel is more a story about how Sei works to solve personal problems. It is a good read if you are following the series and want to read more about the characters. Rei is more shallow, the plot a bit unbelievable. Not bad, but not as good as the early books. I hope Ms. Massey returns to form soon. Not as good as previous books. Rei without a boyfriend+family is less interesting. Mpls author 8.07 no reviews | add a review

This book has much to offer. There's plenty of spy activity and intrigue. There's the mystery of who is behind the misdeeds at Mitsutan department store, which is coupled with a tremendously interesting look at Tokyo culture. The consumerism of elite Tokyo department stores is fascinating, as is the work ethic and culture of the Tokyo workforce. I really enjoyed this book, and am delighted to discover that this is one of a series. I will surely look into the others. (
