I love the Love series, and Ryan!! He is so sweet, loving, and sincere! This had such a happy ending too. I felt that some of the getting to know you love was missing, and some of the heartache that made me love Love Unscripted, HOWEVER... Reber filled the book with lots of hawt and steamy scenes (which totally made up for the loss!!) This book is full of sweet romance and hot guys.

Taryn and Ryan are learning to cope with the celebrity life. It seems like everyone is against them. Though, the more life tries to pull them apart, the stronger their love gets. The toll of paparazzi and touring circuits is hard on everyone that surrounds them, causing a few jail trips, lost jobs, break-ups, and possibly Ryan and Taryn's sanity. Secrets are revealed, easing the nightmares that Taryn is having.

I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend it! ( )

This is part two of a series of two books that tell the story of how 27-year-old Seaport, Rhode Island pub owner Taryn Mitchell got together with the hot movie star Ryan Christensen, who serendipitously ducked into her pub one day to escape his screaming fans. Taryn is probably one of the few women on the planet who has never seen Ryan's films, and treats him like a regular person. Before long, they are in love. But there are a lot of obstacles: Ryan doesn't just have women throwing themselves at him all day long; he also makes movies in which he is the romantic lead. Taryn not only has to learn to cope with the “fandemonium” and potential jealousy over his acting roles, but also the pressure of constant paparazzi and tabloid lies that threaten to destroy their happiness.

Discussion: These books - especially the second, have a LOT of sex in them. I mean every which way in every which place and going on all the time. It is all described rather tastefully, so to speak, and sometimes is fun, sometimes is funny, but after it while - DON’T TELL ANYBODY I SAID THIS - it got kind of, well, BORING! I was starting to write grocery lists in my head while they were going at it, just like in real life! HA HA HA. Just kidding, HA HA! (One reviewer called this “light erotica” - light? Whoa! I wonder what qualifies as “heavy”? LOL)

Evaluation: Much to my amazement, I enjoyed these books, even though I usually don't go for Hollywood celebrity stories. I really did get a lot better insight into how media personalities themselves react to all the attention, how hard it is for their significant others, and how hard it is on them not to be able to have a “real life.”

This second book can be read as a standalone, but since it begins after Ryan and Taryn are already engaged, you will have missed the most important part about how they got together and on what their relationship was based. ( )

First I would like to send my thanks to Atria and First Reads for sending me an ARC of Love Unrehearsed.

I haven't read a romance novel in a while, so it was nice to return to a genre that is a major factor in the publishing world. However, there were some aspects of this novel that were unsettling to me. The first is the lack of a driving force throughout the narrative. The story tells us all about the life that movie star Ryan Christensen and his fiance, Taryn, live and the problems of having a public life, but there is no specific plot to grab hold of. The climax is supposed to be when Taryn and Ryan get married, but their relationship is never in doubt to the reader, so their eventual marriage is far from a motivating plot line. There are tons of steaming sex scenes and lots of inner emotional tension for Taryn, but it just doesn't seem like there's much of a reason for this story to be told.

My second problem is a larger problem, and is probably the thing that I most want to change about the romance genre. That is the emotional weakness displayed by the female protagonist, Taryn. I have no problem with Taryn discussing her undying love for Ryan, I have no problem with Taryn wanting a relationship with a man more than anything else in her life (that is, after all, pretty common for men and women in real life), but it does frustrate me when Taryn objectifies herself and talks about how she is some "thing" that Ryan now possesses. I think that there is a way to stay true to the romance genre without falling into the stereotypes and social norms that perpetuate a type of thinking that borders on machismo. I tried not to be too annoyed by this aspect since it is pretty common in romance novels, but I still do wish that it wasn't present in this book.

While I do have my criticisms, there were still some very charming and very good scenes in Love Unrehearsed . It was a fun, although slightly frivolous, read and would be a good book to grab for a quick bit of entertainment.
