( )Leona Weaver is the local school teacher, and is also the Bishop’s daughter. When unspeakable tragedy strikes her family, help comes from a most unusual source. Jimmy Scott had grown up in the Seattle area, the only son of a loving mother and a distant, unemotional father. When his mother dies, Jimmy’s father becomes even more distant and more abusive as his alcoholism takes over more of his life. Then, Jimmy finds out information about his origins that rocks his entire world. Jimmy leaves his childhood home amidst the conflict, making his way to an Amish community in Pennsylvania. Leona is grateful for Jimmy’s help on her father’s painting crew but cannot understand why he wants to be involved in her family’s troubles. Can Jimmy’s attention to her and her family be out of love – or out of greed. This book is about the Bishop's daughter who falls in love with an Englisher. What will happen to their love? This was an easy read, and predictable. I found myself getting irritated by some of Brunstetter's literary techniques, and found the book to drag on and on. Very fast reads with some mystery. Leona is Bishop Jacob Weaver's daughter and a dedicated teacher in a one-room Amish schoolhouse. After her father's tragic accident, Leona's faith wavers. How could God allow something like this to happen to one of His servants? Outlander Jimmy Scott comes to Pennsylvania in search of his real family. When he is hired to paint an Amish schoolhouse, Jimmy and Leona find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Can anything good come from the love between an Amish woman and an English man? What secrets will be revealed and what miracles await God's people in Lancaster County? no reviews | add a review
