I received a free copy of this novel for my honest review. This was a really sweet story of love and loss. It also has some mystery mixed in to keep it interesting. This a very emotional book, Molly blames herself for all the tragedy she’s had to endure. Through it all, there’s Ben, her first love that is still crazy about her. This is truly a sweet story about second chances. ( )

This one just didn't capture my attention. I didn't see the connection between Ben and Molly besides some nostalgia; maybe it would have been elbourated on later. Molly (while understandably sad) didn't win me over either. She was a little dull and a little all over the place in her actions.

This was actually a really feelgood romance and I liked it. For those who like second-chance romance, you will love this. It is a little predictable, but it's also written in a very engaging way that makes you read on. It's fairly short.

I loved Molly and Ben. The fact that Molly took action after she realized that she wasn't where she wanted to be in life...that's brave. Most people would just roll with it because it's safe. She is also a sweet girl with a great sense of humor and huge burden on her shoulders.
You can tell Ben has regrets, but he really does make up on them. He does everything to prove to her that he isn't the boy he used to be and that his priorities have changed. I loved him.

The first scene they're in together you can tell that they're meant to be. I loved that they didn't have all these huge issues to overcome, there was no "the big misunderstanding" or anything of that sort. They just went with it.

I liked the supporting characters too, and I can't wait to read the second book. I hope Gavin gets his happy ending, too. ( )

Derailed (Clayton Falls #1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy

This is another first time author for me, Alyssa Rose Ivy’s writing is good, I enjoyed all the characters she introduced us to, the plot is well written, story flowed easily and I read Derailed in one afternoon as I really didn’t want to put it down. Derailed is about a young woman who knew she had to escape her small town, leaving behind friends and family after the death of her father. Guilt can be a horrible thing for a young woman to deal with sometimes leaving family and loved ones is the only choice she feels she has. Of course going to college would keep her busy and far away from dealing with her past.

So we meet Molly who has just lost her fiancé Adam, decides she hates law school and quits. Struggling with all that has happened; she decides she needs to return home to figure out what she is going to do next. Heading home to Clifton Falls, North Carolina is not going to be easy but knows she has a place she can call home. Clifton Falls holds a lot of memories and not all of them are happy ones, and of course it is the home of her high school sweetheart Ben. She is not sure she is ready to face him but figures he probably hates her anyway. Like all small towns news spreads fast of Molly’s return.

Ben who once was a bad boy musician has never gotten over Molly and can’t believe she is back in Clifton Falls; he is going to do anything to win the love of his life back. Molly isn’t about to share her secrets, the loss of her fiancée, guilt over the death of her father and of course breaking Ben’s heart. So she decides that her and Ben can hang out and have a physical relationship but no emotions as she is not good for anyone, she believes she will only cause Ben more pain. Molly’s secrets and nightmares are things she is not willing to share with Ben.

Derailed isn’t just a romance novel, it’s a story of a young woman who ran away because of her guilt and mistakes she believes she made and has never forgiven herself so she truly has never moved on. Can she find her way back to her first love?

You have to read Derailed to find out the answers, I have rated Alyssa Rose Ivy’s Derailed a 4 star rating and would recommend anyone who loves to read a fantastic romance novel this is one of them. I cannot wait to read more in this series and of course anything else Alyssa Rose Ivy writes.

I received this E-Book copy/ARC of this book for free to review from the author/publisher/tour site; this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own.

I received an ARC review copy of this book from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This is my second encounter with this author, and I will admit that I have that first book in my TBR pile – for those down time moments. Sadly, those don’t come frequently enough.

This book is a contemporary romance that focuses on healing, guilt and finding a new direction that brings happiness in your life. Molly has just packed it all in when she walked out of one of her final classes in her first year of law school, packed her car and headed from Boston back to her home in North Carolina. What is revealed is the depth of guilt that Molly carries, and just how this guilt has stagnated and haunted her, even when she moved for relief.

Coming home is always a ‘mixed’ blessing of being in the familiar, while running the risk of always being seen as the child you were. Through a best friend who won’t let her retreat, and discovering her true feelings for an old love: we see Molly grow and learn to find her new path when she had shattered the bricks of the path she was on. Well written with characters that are tangible and fully dimensional, the author has a knack for writing a scene that draws you in and helps you to care to know what happens next. This novel gave me that “fly on the wall” feeling, and is my impetus to gather more of this author’s work to read.
