I liked this one. It went a bit too far with the vamps and demons, though. But it was still good. I really liked Marianna and Pete as a couple. And I liked how all the other couples from the previous books made appearances. And I'm beyond glad they found Steven. Can't wait to get to his book. (

Nice switch-up with the pairing of Marianna, a pureblood Amoveo of the Bear Clan and Pete, who finds he’s not quite human, but neither is he a hybrid of Amoveo and human. Pete, who works for Marianna’s brother, Dante, had been asked to be her driver/bodyguard now that the Amoveo Purists, lead by Artimus, have declared themselves separate from the Loyalists. And the Purists have a horrifying agenda.

I had read Tall, Dark and Vampire before starting this series, so it’s been cool to play catch-up and learn about a number of characters as well as the back story. But I was especially interested in finally reading Pete’s story and see how he evolved. It also opens up the series to other possibilities.

All of the paired couples from the prior novels come together in a story with a very different feel to it. Telepathy had been used in prior books to create a strong feel of intimacy without the couple even touching. But this time the ability is cut off for awhile and the couple come together and figure things out the old fashioned way.

Some humor and surprises and what appears to be a shift in the back story. The romance had me teary-eyed. (
