I received this book free from Library Thing to read and review. Kate is a young lawyer who has to make partner or she will have to junk or adjust her neat, 15-year plan. To get there, her friend convinces her to go on a cruise that the boss will also be on (along with her lawyer friend Max). Things don't work quite the way she envisions, but Kate ends up satisfied and happy. This is a fairly well written chick lit book. However, some of the basic premises in the book are a bit far-fetched. A lawyer must work several years before making partner. Supreme Court justices probably have more and additional experiences than Kate could possibly have if she keeps on track with her plan. However, Kate, though sometimes rather immature, is a believable character. Still, there seem to be parts in the story alluded to by Kate that never did occur (she talks to Max about telling him about her past, which I do not remember happening) in the book. A lot of what happens on the cruise is very true to life and humorous. Besides Kate, her friends April and Max come across as rather likeable. However, her boss Sam is a real jerk, chasing after April, his admin, trying to get her into bed, planning a wedding after one good night with her, when, we find out, he is in a relationship with someone else. He also says and does things that no law firm partner would probably do. He does not seem to have the maturity or wherewithal of a law firm partner. I enjoyed this book a lot. It is a very easy and rather quick read. I hope this is the start of a series, because I would like to read more about Kate and Max and April. A surprisingly good read, each character has depth and the author describes events in detail, something that's lacking in other e-book giveaways I've won. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, unfortunately the ending was not as great as I thought it would be. However, I would still recommend those who are interested in reading romantic comedies to give this a try. It's definitely a fast and easy read! This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. “Going Nowhere” a lovely way to go. I just really enjoyed this story and am hopeful for a sequel or series with one or more of the main characters. It remined me of how cooky my friends and I were in younger years, but how things always seemed to work out. To me it was the innocence of the 1970's meets "The Love Boat". Very enjoyable This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This light hearted romp moves quickly from office to cruise ship. Kate, a lawyer trying desperately to climb the ladder of success, abandons the idea of hard work for kissing up. Enter co-worker Max to offer contrast to the rude boss Kate is now trying to befriend. Though the end suddenly wraps up fast - this is a cute fast read. I recommend it for the beach this summer! no reviews | add a review

I loved all of the elements presented in this book! The characters were fascinating, real, likeable, honest, and sometimes laugh out loud funny. I felt that Kate was very approachable person that felt if you followed the rules you'd get ahead. I admired her work ethic and her stance on sucking up to bosses as well. Max is just absolutely yummy. I will definitely look for this author's work in the future. ( )
