Annabelle is trying to stop her mother's marriage to a washed up actor. Clay is trying to stop his washed up actor dad from marrying a supposed gold digger. Neither of them believe in marriage and plan to stop their parent's wedding to each other. Mistaken identity, anger, and chemistry between Annabelle & Clay have them trying to thwart their parents wedding plans while trying to fight the attraction & loathing that's sizzling between them. ( ) Annabelle flies home as soon as she hears her widowed mother is going to marry a 75 year old actor who has already been married 5 times, and she’s only known the man for a couple of months. As someone who works for the state helping divorced women, she herself isn’t keen on marriage. The comedy comes in when the actor’s son, Clay, feels the need to rush home to pay off yet another young gold-digger from taking advantage of his father and makes all the wrong assumptions. I’ve read a couple of books by this author in the past that I absolutely loved. This one, while still a decent read, just didn’t hit me in the same way. It definitely has a number of funny moments, but honestly I just wanted to knock Annabelle’s and Clay’s heads together. Read via KindleUnlimited. Divorce attorney Annabelle Coakley is distraught when her widowed mother calls and announces she's marrying a washed-up movie star with a résumé of discarded wives. Annabelle packs a bag and heads to her mother's with one goal: to stop the wedding! Financier Clay Castleberry is beyond irritated to learn that his father is engaged—again. So he drops everything and heads to his father's with cash in hand to buy off this latest gold-digger. When Clay mistakes Annabelle for his father's betrothed, the two of them don't exactly get off on the right foot! And to their dismay, as their distrust for each other grows, so does their attraction. No library descriptions found. |
